Birthday flowers on a cruise
Birthday flowers on a cruise are a stateroom delivery from the cruise line gift desk, or the hotel the night before if that deadline has passed. A birthday package is not automatically a flower order. We do not sell flowers and we do not take orders.
Order from the cruise line gift desk
Order from the cruise line gift desk. Holland America runs gift orders through its Ship Services Department, and a traveler report asked about a pre-cruise birthday package that lists flowers and balloons. That report is not the published cutoff. Disney is the line where a birthday splits: the governing sentence covers all gifts that are not cakes, which includes flowers, and a separate sentence gives cupcake orders a longer window. The table quotes the governing line. Carnival’s flower page sits on its special-occasion gifts path, under The Fun Shops.
Send to the hotel the night before
The hotel the night before is the fallback when the gift desk has closed, including when the birthday is the reason you are sending. You need the name on the room, the hotel, and the night. How it works says to write "arriving [date], sailing the next day" on the card. DGM Flowers, a Port Everglades hotel drop, has a review quote about an 86th-birthday same-day order. That quote is a review on the listing, not a cruise-line birthday program.
Credentialed terminal delivery
Credentialed terminal delivery does not become a birthday service because the card says so. My Divine Decors publishes TWIC credentials and a PortMiami delivery for passengers, crew, and port staff, with the handoff either at the ship’s customs checkpoint or the port security gate, depending on the ship. Southampton listings have to be arranged beforehand. How it works is the caution on a shop that plans to leave flowers at a gate.
How it works walks through the three paths. Each line has its program and the quoted cutoff. The cutoff table lists every line side by side.
Gift-desk deadlines for this occasion
Quoted from each line’s record. Nothing here is a price we set or a cutoff we estimated. A gift desk where flowers are unverified is not a working cabin-flower path. When a line publishes more than one figure, this table shows the one that governs a flower order and the line page quotes the rest.

Notes for this occasion
Birthday packages, cakes, and flowers
Cruisers asked about a Holland America pre-cruise birthday package that lists flowers and balloons. They preferred ordering a regular arrangement at Guest Services once aboard. One said that a year earlier, pre-ordered flowers on a long cruise could only be delivered on day one. The Guest Services photo album and a chat with the onboard florist gave more options. Pre-order usually comes with a standard glass vase. Nicer arrangements were reported around $40–$60. That figure is a traveler report, not a published price and not a cutoff. Holland America’s published clocks are the prepaid two weeks that governs, and a two-working-day card window the line itself qualifies as some orders that may be accepted. Disney’s governing sentence is: "For all gifts that are not cakes, orders must be placed no later than 3 days prior to sail date." The other published sentence is cupcake orders, available and cancellable up to 7 days prior, not a blanket cake rule and not the flower rule. Princess publishes a celebration phone line, and flowers on that gift desk are unverified. A Celebrity traveler report suggested asking the loyalty desk about a milestone occasion; flowers on that gift desk are unverified too.
What to write in the order note
On the hotel card, keep the How it works line, "arriving [date], sailing the next day," and put the birthday in the message. Cunard already requires the recipient’s full name and date of birth when you phone a flower order. Holland America takes gift orders through a department, not a shopping cart, at (800) 541-1576, so expect a phone call rather than a note field. La Bomba’s Vancouver hotel drop requires vase style and guest or room notes. Solent Stems asks for the occasion when it arranges a Southampton terminal delivery.
Timing on embarkation day, and a birthday that is not day one
Norwegian states flowers may only be delivered on the first day of the sailing. P&O provides items on the first day of the cruise. A Holland America traveler report said the website and a phone agent would only deliver a pre-ordered arrangement on embarkation day, while orders placed at Guest Services on board were described as able to be timed for a later date. We do not have a published Holland America sentence that promises a mid-cruise date. Carnival’s embarkation-day window runs 10:00am to 9:00pm, and an order placed on embarkation day cannot be guaranteed that day. Royal Caribbean says flower arrangements are delivered on embarkation day. Cunard may slip to the following day when demand is high. If the birthday is not embarkation day, say so when you phone the line, and do not assume the pre-order can hit that later date.
Cabin vase rules
The Holland America birthday thread said a pre-order usually comes with a standard glass vase. A separate traveler report said the vase that comes with a stateroom arrangement is yours to keep, and that a Delft vase can be boxed for a suitcase. Another said onboard choices each came with a Delft vase that had to be bought. Vases sold separately were reported from about $17.50. None of those sentences is a published tariff. Virgin Voyages still does not allow fresh-cut flowers brought aboard, so a birthday bouquet from the hotel cannot be carried onto a Virgin ship.
Listings
DGM Flowers names Port Everglades hotels and carries a review quote about a birthday delivery. That quote is not a cruise birthday package. La Bomba is the Vancouver hotel drop that asks for vase style. The terminal listings are My Divine Decors at PortMiami and the two Southampton florists that arrange dock delivery in advance.

Ports
- Port Everglades
Port Everglades has the friendliest geometry of any major cruise port for this particular problem. The terminals, the beach hotel strip, the causeway hotels and the airport all sit inside a few miles of each other. Nothing is an hour away. That does not make pier delivery possible, but it makes the fallback genuinely good.
- PortMiami
PortMiami sits on Dodge Island, reached by one bridge and one tunnel, with the city immediately across the water. It looks close, and it is close, which is exactly why people assume a florist can drive over and hand flowers to someone boarding. Getting onto the island is the part that is harder than it looks. MSC, Oceania, and Regent Seven Seas sail from here; we have not found a passenger flower desk for those lines, so there is nothing further to hunt on their sites. Virgin Voyages, which also sails from here, publishes flower add-on packages for Miami departures.
- Port of Vancouver
Vancouver is the Canada Alaska homeport at Canada Place. It is not Seattle's Pier 91, and it is not a Juneau call. A florist in Vancouver, Washington is a different city. Holland America's opened Vancouver page names Canada Place on the embarkation walk-up.
- Port of Southampton
Southampton is the busiest cruise port in the United Kingdom and the only one on this list where a transatlantic liner still runs a scheduled service. Five terminals are split between the Eastern Docks, entered at Dock Gate 4, and the Western Docks at Dock Gate 10. They are a couple of miles apart and the gate you need is decided by your ship, not your preference.
Questions
How do I send birthday flowers to a cruise ship cabin?
Order from the cruise line gift desk when the deadline in the table is still open. You order from the line; the line delivers to the stateroom, usually on embarkation day. If it has closed, use the hotel the night before. Credentialed terminal delivery is the third path. How it works walks through them. The cutoff table is every line, not a birthday price list. We do not sell flowers or take orders.
Does Holland America sell a birthday flower package I can order here?
This site does not take orders. Cruisers asked about a pre-cruise birthday package that lists flowers and balloons, and they preferred a regular arrangement at Guest Services once aboard. One report said pre-ordered flowers on a long cruise could only be delivered on day one. The published deadline that governs is prepaid gift orders two weeks before sailing. The later card window is permission for some orders, not a plan. The line page quotes both.
Do Disney birthday cakes and flowers share one deadline?
No. Disney’s governing sentence says all gifts that are not cakes, which includes flowers, must be ordered no later than 3 days prior to sail date. The figure is calendar days, not business days. A separate sentence says cupcake orders are available and cancellable up to 7 days prior to sail date. Do not use the cupcake window for flowers. The cutoff table shows the governing quote.
Can birthday flowers arrive on a day that is not embarkation day?
Not on the records that limit flowers to the first day. Norwegian says flowers may only be delivered on the first day of the sailing. P&O provides items on the first day of the cruise. A Holland America traveler report said pre-ordered flowers could only be delivered on day one, and that Guest Services on board could time an order later. That is a report, not a published promise. How it works still starts with the cruise line gift desk.
Other occasions
- Anniversary flowers on a cruise
A cabin surprise only when the gift desk delivers it, plus what a celebration package does not promise.
- Honeymoon cruise flowers
Virgin Voyages flower packages are cabin delivery from Miami and San Juan only, and a hotel bouquet cannot be carried aboard that line.
- Bon voyage flowers
Holland America publishes the bon voyage gift page. The two-week prepaid clock is the one to plan on.
